Funding
The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Sacramento and Northeastern California is committed to stretching every dollar received to affect as many wish kids as possible. When it comes to our wish kids, we do everything possible to make sure their once-in-a-lifetime wish experience is fun, memorable and very special. Every dollar our chapter receives aids us in our mission to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Of each dollar raised, approximately 79% is spent on program services.
The average cash cost of one wish is approximately $5,000. Our chapter relies on in-kind gifts and services, financial contributions from individuals, corporations, clubs and other groups, special events and car donations. We have received enormous community support through special projects, service clubs, fundraisers and private contributions. Gifts to the Endowment Fund are permanently restricted and will be used for children’s wishes in future years.
Through the efforts of more than 500 volunteers, an active Board of Directors and dedicated staff, the chapter’s annual gross revenue has continued to grow. This year’s annual budget will be $2.3 million with the goal of granting approximately 250 wishes and continuing work on the Wishing Place.
